Nancy O'Dell started her career in broadcasting by working as an anchor at WPDE-TV, Myrtle Beach South Carolina. She worked later as an anchor for morning news on WCBD TV and also as a crime reporter. When she was in Charleston O'Dell's reports regarding the police's lenient approach towards DUI cases led to a State Law Enforcement Division investigation which resulted in the states authorities again releasing a more stringent directive regarding these instances. Ms. O'Dell received an award for the Best Report of the Award from the Associated Press for South Carolina's media. In the years following her stint in Charleston O'Dell served as anchor and investigative reporter at NBC's Miami station WTVJ-TV prior to joining Access Hollywood as a weekend anchor and a weekday reporter. The present role of O'Dell as host of Access Hollywood is complemented by her work on NBC News Today, Dateline NBC as well as NBC News. She's reported on major the events such as The Oscars The Emmys The Grammys The Golden Globe Awards, as well co-hosting Pre ShowArrivals Programs during The Emmys. She also co-hosted for the Miss USA pageant and the Miss Universe pageant.
